The plan in one minute

Begin in Sendai in the morning: Zuihoden → the site of Sendai Castle → Jozenji-dori and a flexible city-centre afternoon. The order follows the relevant stops on the Loople route. Keep Matsushima and Yamadera for separate days. Leave room for waiting, lunch and a change of pace. Suggested visit lengths are editorial allowances, not a timed connection plan.

City day 4 stops

  1. Sendai Station

Check the Loople boarding point, current operating notices and the ticket choice before setting off.

    Loople Sendai towards Zuihoden

  2. Zuihoden

Standard adult admission is ¥570. February–November hours are 09:00–16:50, with last admission at 16:30. December–January closes at 16:20, last admission 16:00. Closed 31 December.

Allow around an hour including the approach as a planning estimate. The bus stop is not the entrance; confirm access arrangements if you need a step-free visit.

Rejoin the Loople towards the castle site

  3. Site of Sendai Castle

Make this the second main stop, with time for a break. The plan does not depend on entering a paid exhibition.

This is a useful point to shorten the day if weather or energy calls for a comfortable lunch instead of more sightseeing.

Continue on the Loople towards the Jozenji-dori area

  4. Jozenji-dori

Choose a walk, café, shops or an indoor visit confirmed open. The Loople also serves Sendai Mediatheque; check its current programme if it interests you.

Keep the rest flexible, with dinner near your accommodation or departure station as an optional final anchor.

Check each part of the route

Google Maps may suggest a different service. Follow the Loople stop order above and check the official timetable.

Arriving after lunch?

Choose one historical attraction only if you can reach it comfortably before last admission. Otherwise, keep a city-centre afternoon and save the historical route for another day.

The published last Loople departure from Sendai Station is 16:00. Other stops have different final times. Check the last useful service for your stop and plan evening transport separately.

Adjust for weather and walking

This route includes outdoor walking and attraction approaches. Identify an indoor place open on your date if weather is poor, and confirm access at each attraction for mobility needs.

Keep extra time for any onward train or flight. This template assumes a morning start in Sendai and does not establish a safe same-day connection from Tokyo.

Keep your city plan handy
